Transfer of Learning
Transfer of learning can help us know if the training program is successful. Transfer of learning occurs when individuals who have taken the training program apply their newly acquired skills in the field. For the septic training program, the transfer of learning plan has two prongs, one for the initial licensure program and one for the continuing education participants.
Licensed individuals who are fulfilling their continuing education will be given a pretest and a post test for each course. Results on these pre and post tests will be compared statistically to gauge efficacy of the training. Additionally, data will be requested from NH DES regarding the frequency of required redesign; this will be sorted to examine whether designers and installers who have taken the new training program demonstrate lower incidence of redesign that those who have not yet been through the program.

Candidates for a septic designer or septic installer license will be expected to take the appropriate standard licensing exam as published by the State of New Hampshire. Statistics will be collected on the scores and the pass/fail rate of these exams, and will be statistically compared to the scores and pass rates of individuals attempting the tests over the five year preceding the implementation of the training program.
